大致上的區分簡略說明如下,希望對有這方面疑惑的同學有些幫助:
ensure, insure, assure, guarantee, pledge, promise
這些動詞都有“保證”之意。
ensure: 側重使人相信某個行為或力量產生的結果。
assure: 側重指消除某人思想上的懷疑或擔心,從而有達到目的的保證感,但不如ensure普通。
guarantee: 指對事物的品質或人的行為及履行義務、義務等承擔責任的保證。
pledge: 正式用詞,指通過鄭重許諾、協議或立誓等保證承擔某一義務或遵守某一原則。
promise: 側重表自己的主觀意向,設法用語言使人感到穩當可靠。
